As a city, Lublin was not only a witness but also an author of the events that shaped free Poland. It was here where on the 7th of November 1918 Provisional People's Government of the Republic of Poland was appointed, and the city became a temporary capital of the country. In Lublin the electoral rights of women were announced, as well as the prosocial package of social rights. From here and from the nearby Świdnik started the avalanche of solidarity - Lublin July. Here the first university of the independent Poland was created - the University of Lublin.

This year's centenary of regaining the Independence by Poland Lublin celebrates according to a slogan "Lublin 1918-2018. Inspired by freedom."

Another event is a Day of Solidarity and Freedom, celebrated on the anniversary of the Gdańsk Agreement - 31st of August. An important part of the show will be an open-air concert of BAJM - on the band's 40th anniversary, a musical journey through the history of both the artists and the city. www.lublin.eu
