The hotel building was erected in the years 1865-1867 in the place of the former gardens of the Czartoryski family. The designer was the province architect Ludwik Szamota, who drew inspiration from the building of the Europejski Hotel in Warsaw.

After the damage the building had suffered during World War II, it was rebuilt while preserving its original appearance. The building facade is decorated by restored plaster heads of men and women, which are representations of King Jan III Sobieski and Queen Marysieńka, among others.

For a long time, in the building there was a hostel of PTTK (Polish Tourist and Sightseeing Society). In 2002, after the major refurbishment supervised by professor Wiktor Zin, the four-star Europa Hotel was established in the building.
