Traditional culture in various colours, sounds, and flavors - from handicrafts, through music, dance, and singing, to cuisine, will visit Lublin for the thirteenth time. We invite you to the Jagiellonian Fair (August 16-18)!
Folk artists from Poland, Ukraine, Slovakia, Belarus, Lithuania, and Hungary will join forces to take us to a rich realm of regional traditions. While walking through the Old Town we will have an opportunity to see their work, buy original products, and take part in workshops.
This year's edition of the festival will allow us to learn more about the secrets of beekeeping. Life and work of the bees continue to inspire artists, both the folk and contemporary ones. Summer Beekeeping School workshops will teach us about setting up an apiary, building beehives, and making different products based on pollen, wax, or honey.
An important part of the Fair's programme is music. We will hear it while strolling between the stalls, and during the evening dance parties. During an amazing re:tradition concert contemporary musicians will join folk artists and play traditional repertoire together. This year it will be: Dorota and Henryk Miśkiewicz together with mrs Janina Pydo and accompanying band, Katarzyna Groniec and the Singing Ensemble of Dobrowoda, Monika Brodka with Barbara Biegun and Ficek/Blachura band from Beskid Żywiecki. We will also hear the music of the Radom region performed by Adam Bałdych and Krzysztof Dys together with Jam Kmita's Band.
Jagiellonian Fair Playground at the Błonia near the Castle will take us back to the childhood times of our parents and grandparents thanks to the timeless games and plays. It will be a great fun for the whole families. Special activities connected with the main theme of this year's fair has been prepared for the youngest ones - the children will learn about the bee realm thanks to the SWARM - bee stories workshops. In the VIVO! shopping mall, at the Błonia near the Castle, and at the Dominikański Square we will hear tales and stories about the bees. Workshops of Culture invite the children to The City of Bees movie screening.
