The German concentration camp operated from October 1941 to July 1944. The prisoners came from about 30 countries. On the site of the former camp, the State Museum at Majdanek was established with the purpose to nurture the memory of the victims of the German occupation in the Lublin region during World War II. Visiting the area and using the services of the Visitor Service Center (guides, publishing houses) is possible all year round - in winter only until dusk - except on Mondays, public and religious holidays.

Historic records suggest that in the 16th c. Lithuanian noblemen resided here during the proceedings of the Sejm debating on the signing of the Polish-Lithuanian Union in 1569. This significant event is commemorated with a monument shaped like an obelisk.

The name of the square is connected with the first church built within the city walls – the Parish Church of St. Michael the Archangel. It was founded in the 13th c. by Leszek the Black as a votive offering for the victory over the Jatvingians.

XIII Ogólnopolski Festiwal Studencka Wiosna Teatralna to wydarzenie, które łączy młodych twórców i oferuje im przestrzeń do artystycznych eksperymentów. Tegoroczna edycja, odbywająca się w dniach 21-23 maja 2025 roku w ACKiM UMCS Chatka Żaka w Lublinie, skupi się na temacie czasu i przestrzeni. Festiwal to okazja do zaprezentowania autorskich spektakli oraz adaptacji teatralnych, a także udziału w warsztatach teatralnych. XIII edycja będzie miała miejsce w roku jubileuszu 60-lecia Chatki Żaka.
